Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of PermitPlace ("the Service", "we", "us"), operated as a sole proprietorship in British Columbia, Canada. By creating an account or paying for a subscription, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

PermitPlace aggregates publicly-available building permit data published by Canadian municipalities under their open data licences. We classify, filter, and deliver this data to subscribers as weekly digests, CSV exports, and through an online explorer.

We do not guarantee that any specific permit will lead to business for you. The Service is a lead-discovery tool — outcomes depend on your own sales effort.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have legal authority to enter into contracts in your jurisdiction. The Service is intended for businesses, not for personal/consumer use.

3. Accounts

4. Subscriptions and payments

5. Refund policy

Because of the 7-day free trial, we do not offer refunds for subscription periods that have already started. If you believe you've been charged in error, email help@permitplace.net within 14 days and we'll review.

6. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

Violation of this section may result in immediate termination without refund.

7. Data accuracy disclaimer

We aggregate data from third-party government sources. While we strive for accuracy:

You agree to verify any lead independently before taking commercial action on it. We are not responsible for business decisions you make based on the data.

8. Intellectual property

The underlying permit data is public and remains in the public domain. Our classifications, software, design, branding, and aggregated dataset are our intellectual property. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own business while your subscription is active.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or engage in conduct that harms the Service or other users. We will give reasonable notice when practical. On termination, your access ends but these Terms continue to apply to any prior use.

10. Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except as required by Canadian consumer protection law. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (e.g. for gross negligence, fraud, or death/personal injury).

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of British Columbia (city of Vancouver or Abbotsford), subject to your statutory consumer rights.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be emailed to active subscribers at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
